This search is to determine that the proposed name you presented has not been taken or is not similar to any other business entity. If there is a match then your most preferred business name will be rejected and the same goes for your alternative business names. However, if your business name is not rejected, that means that your business can be called after that name.
If your business name is accepted, you can now proceed to register your business name. You will be required to come with 2 of your passport photographs and filing fees (this will be stated at the end of this article)
After submitting the business name search form, it takes 2 – 3 weeks to get result so you will have to keep in touch with the official helping you through the process.
If your proposed business names are rejected, then you will have to pay for a new business name availability search form and start the process again.
The business name legally belongs to you after CAC confirms it available and you have submitted all duly completed statutory forms with two passports and have paid the filing fees.
